oriGIn Uzbekistan — protecting the golden heritage of Uzbekistan
We turn the uniqueness of local products into legal protection, a brand and income.
Who we are
oriGIn Uzbekistan is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation established as an institution to develop geographical indications and support local producers. It was founded under Presidential Resolution PQ-358 of 27 November 2025 and Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 375 of 9 July 2026.
At the founders’ general meeting on 25 August 2026, the Charter and emblem were approved and A.N. Yakubov was appointed Executive Director. On 28 August 2026 the organisation was registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
What is a geographical indication?
A geographical indication (GI) is a sign showing that a product comes from a specific place and that its quality, reputation or other characteristics are essentially due to that place. The formula is simple: a unique regional character + local craft or farming = a distinctive national brand. Champagne, Parmigiano Reggiano and Darjeeling tea became global brands thanks to this system.
Khorezm melon
A unique taste shaped by climate.
Margilan atlas and adras
Weaving craft tested by centuries.
Guzor tandir meat
A local culinary secret.
Andijan skullcap
Distinctive design and national pride.
Our mission
To identify Uzbekistan’s unique regional products, protect them nationally and internationally, and make them a sustainable source of income for producers.
Who we work with
Farmers, artisans and master craftsmen, small and medium businesses, regional associations, local authorities, researchers and educational institutions.
